NEW Sinfonia are proud to present Gresford, Up From Underground, a community opera created by composer Jon Guy and librettist Grahame Davies. The Ivors Academy Award nominated opera is a dramatic retelling of the Gresford Mining Disaster; one of the worst coal mining disasters in UK history.
NEW Sinfonia are looking to partner with Choirs and Brass Bands from Blackwood and Caerphilly area for a performance on Thursday 26 February 2026. We would like to share the story of Gresford with you, hear about your own experiences, and perform together on stage.
